I received a legal notice from SCEE lawyers requesting me to remove the coolstuff links that graf_chokolo has distributed on grafchokolo.com as well as the links at this blog. What i found interesting in the legal notice is that the lawyers are suing graf_chokolo for 1 million euros. That is quite a number, but graf_chokolo doesn’t seem to care.
He still want to hack the PS3, where he said he cannot sleep knowing that he cannot touch the hypervisor of the PS3. Man, i never see someone like graf, he is an extraordinary genius hacker that Sony wasting it by making a lawsuit against him.

Just curious, I notice that the PDF said a file called: coolstuff.rar Does that mean any file hosted called coolstuff.rar. Out of curiosity, I will compile a file of the exact same size of the original and post it all over called coolstuff.rar When and if I get a DMCA take down notice, I will tell the host to open the file and it will be nothing but random text files. Then sue Sony for they must declare under penalty of law that the affidavit is truthful and correct. I would think that at a minimum on a take down notice they should give a Hash (MD5, SHA, Whirlpool) but to just be safe they should take a look at the file before sending the DMCA Notice. The Law works in both directions.
On another note: I also wonder when the MPAA authorized copyright agents seed a file to bittorent to catch others, aren’t they releasing it to the public by sharing it to everyone who wants it. Sort of like; hey look at this, oh hey you just broke the law, pay me. ENTRAPMENT

I wil give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest you look at what has happened to the kinect since people started hacking it. Many creative and unexpected ideas that Microsoft would have never dreamt up appeared out of the woodwork. Until companies begin to understand the awesome creative forces that exist due to the inter-connectivity of the world today they will continue to waste massive resources locking up their system instead of learning how to leverage that creativity in a way that would be a win-win for everyone involved.

You could email this German lawyer and ask him in person why he is writing in English, quoting US laws about a German case to you. Very strange.
Besides it´s remarkable that it´s called ´helping a criminal´ while there has been no conviction. Its an empty threat and for a Dr. Mr. that is rather stupid. Anyone with legal knowledge knows this is just a piece of paper (or better a bunch of zero bits).

Are you all serious? Look, I’m not for or against this Gaf guy, lord knows I’ve done and will do my share of pirating. But let’s get serious, you all are looking up to this guy like he’s some profit or civil rights activist.

The only way I can respond is, “wow, that only saddens me.” How to hack and exploit a ps3 game console is cool, but it’s hardly important “knowledge”. You know what I think? I think this Gaf bro is blowing this whole thing out of proportion looking for some form of recognition.
And you all are mad because a legitimate company is wanting to stop the exploit of their product that would lead to a major loss in sales? Any sane president of a company would wage legal action to stop this, whether they believed they had a case or not.
